What is participatory budgeting?
Participatory budgeting is a way for residents to decide how a specific amount of the city’s budget is used. The process starts as the residents come up with ideas, after which the ideas will be read through. Next, the ideas will be processed into suggestions that will be voted on. All residents in Martinlaakso who have turned 12 years old could have their say in what €50,000 will be used for in their area. The suggestions with the most votes will be implemented based on how they fit into the disposable amount of money. The suggestions with the most votes will be implemented in 2021.
